The eminent American sociobiologist E.O. Wilson intensively addresses the need for scientific consilience, or knowledge convergence, in his 1997 book Consilience: The Unity of Knowledge.
Divisions of knowledge are sorted by the Noetic Jedi into spectral isolates or colors of light. Together, they converge in the meta-discipline of information studies and computer science (the study of studies), which is white. This arrangement of knowledge is known as the neshnarand, translatable as "the rainbow" or "the full spectrum", which is also a symbol of Noetic Jediism.
In a Jedi "full temple" or wan-unon, one would expect to find at least one teacher or chromatic nai in each of the Nine Disciplines, each one with the color-encoded cloak of his or her discipline. A wan-unon will have a complete neshnarand of naiu available to educate paduon learners to become fellow naiu. A full neshnarand will generally ordain (and therefore support) an obi-wan, or a temple master (literally "over-temple"), as a temple resident and groundskeeper, master of ceremonies and a delegate to the Jedi Council. A Jedi Academy, or wan-jed, is more like a university, with all nine schools at one location in addition to halls for lecture, learning labs, at least one arena and several meditation chambers. Red Naiu, or teachers of the Degree of Manifestation, are conversant with their own as well as the more rigorous Cosmic Form of Jedi martial arts, or Jed-Aku.
In general, the progression of Jedi learning is as follows: wado (initiate) -> paduon -> nai -> semyon (attainment of five naiu amulets) -> unon (attainment of all nine naiu amulets). Beyond achievement of one nai degree or amulet, the nai is given a small breast-plate with nine sockets, each of which may contain an amulet stone as he or she progresses through the degrees. Generally, one must be a semyon to practice as a healer (obi-nus, a title consisting of the purple, blue, green, red and brown degrees) or researcher (obi-tarand, a title consisting of the white, green, yellow, orange and black degrees) and an unon (all nine degrees) in order to sit on the peer review board of the Hesperon, the body that maintains the Nusu Tarand or the Jedi Journal of Noetic Science. The following do not need to be attained in order, unless one is pursuing admission into the Academy toward knighthood, in which case the red, brown and black naiu are recommended first. These are the Nine Disciplines of the Noetic Jedi Naiu, or Neshnarand:
1. Meta. White. Computer and information science. Knowledge convergence. Intrinsic wisdom and Source. Unity or universal mind.
2. Individual Consciousness. Purple. Teaching and training, philosophy, psychology and consciousness. Knowledge concentration. Intelligence. Trans-ego.
3. Social Consciousness. Blue. Medicine and holistic health, social theory, human resources and counseling. Knowledge transference. Community knowledge and empathy. Super-ego.
4. Nature. Green. Wilderness, ecology and planetology, horticulture and agriculture. Sensorium and environmental knowledge. Trans-persona.
5. Science, Mathematics and Symbols. Yellow. Cyber-security, cryptology, symbology, physics, math and linguists. Codified and communicated knowledge: information. Cis-persona or meta-representation.
6. Artificery. Orange. Technology and applied science; design, engineering, architecture, invention. Pragma and practiced knowledge: systems. Persona or representation.
7. Manifestation. Red. Arts and recreation, physionoetics, martial arts. Kinetic and internalized knowledge. Ego.*
8. Memory. Brown. Literature, music, mnemonics, public speaking, diplomacy, spycraft and interpretive writing. Interpreted knowledge. Sub-Ego, the subconscious mind.*
9. Spacetime. Black. History, geography, biography, travel and objective writing. Objective, extrinsic knowledge or data. Extrinsic reality and non-consciousness.*
* - These are suggested prerequisites for those aspiring to knighthood, which is awarded subsequent to residency and training at the wan-jed or Jedi Academy and the completion of at least one successful mission involving bravery or self-sacrifice.
In general, paduonu (who function as both apprentice learners and community gardeners) wear plain earth tone cloaks, whereas naiu wear the color-coded cloaks of their current teaching specialty, regardless of the discipline for which they're training. An obi-nai is essentially a headmaster of a school, whereas a mado-nai is considered the canonical professor of the discipline; this high distinction is generally reserved for an unon sitting on the Hesperon, which is traditionally a council of nine (one for each school). Among the mado-naiu or the Council of Nine, a hesperent is elected. This is the hierophant and one of the three tribunes of the Noetic Jedi Order. The tribunes are the Hierophant in charge of learning, curricula, research and publication, representing mind; the Grand Master, in charge of the academy, the knighthood and the performing artists, representing body, and the Oracle, in charge of mission, vision and the enigmatic body of seers, representing spirit.
There are nine minor forms and one major form of Noetic Jedi martial arts. Each school has its attendant phsyionoetic form, which is similar to tai chi. Taken together with the rigor expressed at the Jedi Academy, with particular emphases in the acrobatic Red Form and the minimalist Black Form, they amount to the Tenth or Cosmic Form, which is symbolized by the Harvest Blade. The Harvest Blade of Earth is the scythe; on Uum it was the akuda, a semicircular blade mounted on a pole. Since we are quarant or terrestrial (pre-interstellar), it would be appropriate to adopt the scythe as a symbol of Jedi knighthood on Earth, and to incorporate it into our martial arts. Additionally, the scythe resonates with certain useful cultural memes on Earth, such as populist uprising and inevitability.
