What are the spiritual practices most indicated by scientific evidence?

What must we do, as individuals and communities, in order to manifest change toward a more positive, sustainable civilization?

The likelihood of extraterrestrial intelligence has increased, seemingly, with each successive astronomical discovery. What would extraterrestrial spirituality be like? Could we know?

What are the potential impacts of extraterrestrial civilizations on our own spirituality and understanding of the Universe?

What is necessary, here and now on a daily basis as individuals, and also collectively as human cultures, in order to heal ourselves, the Earth and ensure the continuity of civilization moving toward enlightened abundance?

These questions are addressed by Noetic Jediism.

Noetic Jediism may be distinguished from boys yearning to be called Jedi knights in that we take ourselves and reality seriously, and that we recognize the overarching scope of Jediism as capable of bridging the gap not only between the philosophies and cultures of East and West on Earth, but also between science and spirituality ... and eventually, perhaps even among the manifold forms of consciousness and culture in the extraterrestrial Universe. No human religion has concerned itself with the goal of facilitating the fit of culture and the natural Universe at the level of mission and vision. Therefore, we consider ourselves to be among the first transcendental or post-human spiritual philosophies capable of bridging cultural gaps such as those between science and mysticism, rich and poor, reductionism and holism, traditions ancient and new, and humans and extraterrestrial intelligences.

At this stage of terrestrial human cultural evolution, human consciousnesss or nous is ready to begin unlearning the cultural trappings of over-specialization and centripetal power as initiated by our Paleolithic axemakers and grossly amplified by the god-kings of Mesopotamia. The noetic approach is a systematic way to reintroduce holistic thinking in order to set individuals on unique paths of self-discovery toward fit with universal consciousness, and collectively, to move human culture toward mindfulness of Nature and the Cosmos.

Spiritual Practice

The Noetic Jedi approach to spirituality is evidence-based, rooted in science. We recognize objective scientific inquiry as the best available tool to examine the outcomes of spiritual practice and to advise our philosophy and procedures . The top three spiritual practices identified as most helpful for individual health, communion with Nature, building community and promoting more positive and holistic worldviews include meditation, gardening and acts of kindness. Additional, perhaps less central practices include shamanic drumming, complementary and alternative medicine practices, remote viewing and wilderness retreats. But this is not a comprehensive description. We are an eclectic bunch engaged in finding the best aspects of human cultures and moving them forward into a brighter, more imaginative and sustainable future.

We are currently in Phase I:

I. Concept

  • Forge online presence and virtual community.
  • Create games representing Jedi life and the Natural World Order abiding by Natural Law.
  • Open fora for discussion and peer assembly of wikis and online portals such as the Physionoetic Wiki.

II. Communion

  • Ad-hoc wilderness retreats.
  • Establish linkages with mythopoetic societies, sustainability institutes, organic farming associations, co-ops, mind-body organizations (tai chi, yoga, massage, martial arts), etc.
  • Nucleate local ceremonial groups: meditation, massage, shamanic drumming, contemplation, discussion.
  • Begin drafting a manuscript and physionoetic curricula.

III. Community

IV. Culture

V. Consilience
