Welcome to the site of Noetic Jediism, the open source unreligion. We want no less than sustainable, perpetual human civilization in alignment with Natural Law, and we invite you to jump in and help shape this highly individualized and living spiritual and philosophical movement. What do we mean by "living"? We're adaptive, and we hear each others' voices. We have ethical tenets that can be changed if they're found at some later point to be inaccurate or rooted in delusion. The age of the spiritually obvious and set in stone, such as "thou shalt not kill", was a necessary first step. But now we find ourselves in a much more complex, nuanced world. We find ourselves needing to discover how we best fit the Universe as individuals in harmony with each other and with Nature. Unlike a religion, which normally manifests as a temporal hierarchy run similarly to a corporation with elites espousing dogmas and expecting obedience and tribute, Noetic Jediism might be described in more libertine and democratic terms. As individuals without distinction turning toward the Universe and in pursuit of Natural Law, we seek enlightenment and the alignment of mental and behavioral patterns that engender beneficent and perpetual civilization. In brief, we seek a beautiful future through creative wisdom and mindfulness.

This is both a mystic and scientific process of self-discovery, an active relationship with the Universe through scientific, evidence-based spiritual practice. We share the notion that this movement, if nurtured and expressed through ethical and positive channels over time, could create a groundswell leading human civilization on a transformative process, individually and collectively, through sustainability and toward perpetuity and Golden Age. If we could dare to imagine together a civilization that fits Nature via a timeless Natural Order that has yet to be fully envisioned, then we might achieve everything we know that we're missing in the idle and destructive channels and distractions we find presently described for us and so well-traveled around us, much to the disquiet of that still small voice of conscience within us. Today we find ourselves fully expressed in systems of physicality and arbitrary, top-down capitalism but we are spiritually lost. We seek resonance with the Universe and with deeper meaning, but we don't know where to look: we are distracted, worried and made busy by our temporal masters.

Dictionary.com defines noetic as "of or pertaining to the mind" and "originating in or apprehended by the reason". It is defined elsewhere as knowledge that is subjective: "the things you know through your own direct experience". Succinctly put, it is intrinsic knowledge. But that's just the beginning.

Occasionally we realize that it's not enough just to passively belong. Rather, we feel the call to actively engage ... but we are blinded and confused by a torrent of choices. What are the best spiritual practices for individual enlightenment, sustainable civilization and a more beautiful and humane society?
I. Meditate. Meditation is the principal spiritual practice of Buddhism, among other ancient wisdom traditions, primarily because it leads one on a path of self-discovery toward mindfulness, which might be described as mental, emotional and spiritual alignment with the Universe. In the West, many of us are engaged in noisy transmission in the form of prayer. Yet we discount the clinically proven benefits of meditation, including reduced stress hormones, reduced blood pressure, the development of a more peaceful and mindful disposition, enhanced potential for creative breakthrough and an overall more positive outlook on life. Meditation has more active variant forms, including mind-body practices such as tai chi, yoga and qigong.
